How to Tie a One Shoulder Wrap with the "Ride Around Sunny" Doggie Sling Carrier

The "Ride Around Sunny" doggie carrier emerged out of my own need. My little dog, Sunny, is spoiled rotten (bad mommy), and would bark like crazy every time I would try to work in my studio because she wanted to be held. Obviously I couldn't hold her and use both hands at the same time so the "Ride Around Sunny" was born.

To wrap and tie a one shoulder hold begin by finding the Sunflower Steamcrafts label and folding the wrap in half long wise.
The center seam should meet itself. You don't have to fold the whole thing. Just get it lined up in the middle and short of shake it out.

You can place the label in the center of your tummy just at the rib line but I put the label on my right side to even out the tie ends when I'm finished.

Next, you'll want to bring the ties around the back and cross them over. I cross the tie in my right hand UNDER the tie in my left hand so that when I pull the tie up later the other tie will hold it in place. If you want the weight to come over your right shoulder instead of your left, cross them the other way.
Bring the tie in your left hand up over you left shoulder.
Bring the tie back down in front an pass it UNDER the folded band across your tummy.
Now bring both ends together over your right hip (or left if you chose the other shoulder) and tie them together.
Now chase down your doggie! Here Sunny!
Open the pocket across your chest. The open side should be facing in toward your chest rather than out toward your shoulder. If it is rotated the wrong way, just twist it to get it back the right way. Now insert your doggie with their feet down into the pocket and their back up against the fold.
Make sure there is material both against your chest and on the other side of your dog so it makes a little pocket. I pull it up about as high as Sunny's shoulder. She likes to lean out so I like it high to prevent a spill. Their front legs will probably hang out over the top and that's perfectly ok.

Now for added security, separate the two folds of the band across your tummy and pull the front fold up over your doggie in the pocket. Again, I usually pull this one up at least as high as Sunny's shoulder where it sits right under my armpit on both sides.

The outer pocket may be loose so tighten everything up by grabbing the side ties and giving them a tug till everything feels good and secure. Retie your ties and you are good to rock and roll with your fur baby!

This wrap is probably not a good idea for high energy "wiggly" dogs and has not been tested with any dog over 10lbs. If you would like your own custom "Ride Around Sunny" for your fur baby, you can order one through my Etsy shop. Just click the "I Sell On Etsy" button on the right!
